Sandra and Rob Otway have been growing a variety of produce for approximately 37 years, mostly in Carnarvon but in recent years in Busselton, where they now reside.
Rob said “We still have family in the plantation business in Carnarvon which is a great as it allows us to provide tropical fruits and vegetables that would otherwise not be available at the Markets”.
Rob added that the tropical produce, including bananas and mangoes, was a big hit at the Market .
Rob and Sandra have a diverse range of produce that they sell at the Boyanup Farmers’ Market and at other Markets around the South West, often with Rob at one market and Sandra at another on the same day.
At their Busselton farm, the Otways grow seasonal citrus, including navel oranges and tangelos sweet potato, garlic and in the summer they grow many varieties of vegetables which include zucchinis, cucumbers, tomatoes, rockmelons, sweet corn and beans to name a few. Included in the diverse range of produce on offer are range eggs and asparagus.
They also grow plants such as gladioli and hippeastrums and sell cut flowers.
Sandra and Rob have been attending the local Markets for the last 15 years. Rob said, “We quite enjoy the atmosphere and have met many wonderful and interesting people.”
