Former Manager Joan Peters drawing our August Raffle
Well another day of great weather for our August market, we are so blessed!! There was the early morning chill for only a short time and then the sun shone on us all. The usual buzz of the people preparing their stalls,(30 in all) ready for another busy day There were no new stalls or changes other than the welcome news that Blackwood Valley Beef would accommodate pork as well as the usual beef products. With the sun shining and the crowd sitting at the tables amongst the bright umbrellas it was a great atmosphere to observe. The volunteers who made our load lighter were amazing, thank you again for a sterling job You were very much appreciated Congratulations Donna (who sells raffle tickets for the Cardinals Junior Football Clubs wood raffle) for winning the market raffle which consisted of produce and other “goodies” donated by the stall holders present, valued at over $100 – and it only cost her $1 to buy her ticket. Donna seemed well deserving of the win for she indicated sharing with several people. What a lovely gesture Congratulations also to Chris Hynes of waterloo who won the wood raffle. This raffle for the CJFC is finished for the rest of the year they will resume fundraising again next year 2011 from April to August. We had a visit from our past jet about manager, looking rather refreshed and already talking of their next trip. Glad you enjoyed yourselves and thank you for your offer of support Joan .We will keep you up our sleeve! There was a wide variety of goodies to buy at the market and it gives us great satisfaction that our local people are benefiting from the sales. Keep up the high standard of the produce that entice customers and know that we are presenting and displaying a quality product that makes our market attractive to our clients. On September 26 we see the return of the very popular free water testing with Rae McPherson from the Capel Shire – bring water from your bore, tank, river etc in a clean container. Water Samples Use a clean glass jar 250ml or more Rinse jar twice in sample water; make sure there is no soap residue, if the container still smells like what was in it before it is not clean enough. Label the sample with where sample was taken from eg soak, bore, tank etc. Preferably take the sample the day you bring it in for testing. We would like to welcome a new face to the market. As of September 6th, Phillip Knight will be joining the Market management team as Market Manager. Phillip’s contact details are below. The next Boyanup and Districts Farmers Market will be held at the Boyanup Memorial Park on the South West Highway, Boyanup on Sunday, September 26th, commencing at 8am and finishing at 12 noon.
